El Sueño de la Sombra

El Sueño de la Sombra (The Shadow’s Dream) includes 64 hand-fabricated ladders made out of stainless-steel shot, a common burnishing media to polish metal. The material is manipulated by hammering it flat and then micro-welded to form the shapes. The miniature ladders are positioned on both sides of the 8"x24ft steel wall. The ladders symbolize migrants and families. This piece has also been installed in front of the actual border fence barrier of El Paso/Cd. Juarez borderland.
